Spark Event Rentals – Marc Cousineau

May Meet the Members features Mark Cousineau and his business Spark Event Rentals. Marc was born in Ottawa and moved to Pemberton in 1986. Mark lived in Whistler in 1999 and 2000 and North Vancouver in the mid 2000s. Mark finally moved to Pemberton in 2013 with his family and three kids. Outside of his busy work schedule, he loves the outdoors, skiing and biking in particular. He coaches with Extremely Canadian part-time in the winter months.

When asked why he decided to be a business owner and start his business, Spark Event Rentals, Marc replied, ” I saw an opportunity to fill a need in the regional market so I made the decision in the spring of 2018. 

The biggest challenge to operating Spark Event Rental was surviving two years of Covid. It was extremely difficult and it still is. It is a long road to come back from but we continue to get through it and make progress. I would say our toughest challenge is thee tight labour market. We have a small core crew of excellent staff but the annual seasonal staff challenges are real.

The great reward of owning and operating Spark Event Rentals is being my own boss. It can be a tough and never ending requirement, but when we excecute great rentals, service and events and see our happy clients and repeat business, I know we are doing the right things!
